Here’s my back to school clean-up list:


  1. Organize desktop
  2. Purge, defrag, repair disk
  3. Update camera firmware
  4. Check camera date and time settings
  5. Add your name (if your camera software allows) to the exif data
  6. Check for software updates
  7. Backup
  8. Buy another external hard drive (many are on “back-to-school-sale”) and rotate storage data that is stored on devices more than five years (according to the Library of Congress)
  9. Create a cloud account (Dropbox, Box, Amazon)
  10. Set goals
  11. Think about creating a holiday card
