From the beginning of my photography career, I married paint with photography. The fine art print became my canvass, color my voice. A handpainted photograph is a unique heirloom beautifully crafted .

Local Color is an organic body of work as Cheryl Machat Dorskind continues to explore the East End of Long Island where she lives. Each image is a pigment inkjet, printed on the finest museum-grade paper.

I began my journey as a professional photographer merging black and white silver gelatin photographs with oil paint. I call them" photopaintings" and each "photopainting" in this collection is part of a limited edition of 25. Every image is hand-printed in the darkroom (on gelatin silver photographic paper) and then handpainted with washes and layers of oil paints and artist materials to create one-of-a-kind exquisite art.
